MCA Day.

Happy MCA Day dear readers. I know there’s another really famous day people are celebrating today, but I’ve seen some animosity online about it (I guess we’re all getting a bit touchy) so I’m choosing to celebrate a different special day this year. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, MCA (Adam Yauch) from the Beastie Boys died (far too young) on May 4th, 2012.

Musings.

Within the vampire mythology, there are various origin stories. Maybe it’s a virus. Maybe they just always existed or even pre-dated humans. Maybe the origin is less important at the beginning of a series but becomes more so when learning more deeply about our beloved characters.

My First.

The first vampire novel I remember reading was a pretty obvious choice, at least for my generation: Interview with the Vampire, by Anne Rice. I was twenty-something, living in Chicago and Anne Rice’s words and imagery were exactly the elixirs I needed and didn’t even know I’d been looking for my whole life.
